Arena Maintenance
Beta-Ride® Arena Maintenance Service
Beta-Ride offers regular or one-off arena maintenance services. We have state of the art machinery to keep your arena in tip-top shape. Our new laser grader ensures accuracy when levelling arena surfaces and has adjustable heavy duty tines to loosen compacted surfaces.
Whilst Beta-Ride’s fibres help maintain a root-like structure in the sand and so help to prevent movement, ALL arenas need some maintenance. Our fibres help reduce movement of the arena surface, but there will always be some in high footfall areas. It is essential to keep on top of arena maintenance before it becomes a problem.
We have the necessary equipment & expertise to look after your arena for you on a regular basis, or you can just call us out as & when you need us. Please be aware that maintaining your arena regularly often works out cheaper, as it is quick & easy for us to maintain. If the arena is left to develop problems, it can become more time-consuming & costly to resolve.
If you’re planning on maintaining your arena yourself, here are some handy arena maintenance tips.
Grading is a process to establish a level base initially undertaken with excavation equipment and completed with some more precise levelling equipment. It is essential when constructing a Horse Arena, and an important on-going part of maintaining your Arena. Grader levelling is more commonly done using a towed Arena Leveller.
In today’s world, construction equipment has taken full advantage of laser technology and graders are equipped with such technology to better control finish grading tasks. Laser grading is the ability to set a grade on the ground using a beam of light. The resulting grade is very precise leading to optimum results for the grading goal. Laser Grading operations are beneficial for the initial construction and Arena refurbishments, annual Laser Grading greatly improves the longevity of your Arena.
The components of a laser grading unit include the laser controls, the grading box, the hydraulic valve and the laser receiver. The laser grading unit is attached to a controlled piece of earth moving equipment and the laser beam, set at a specific grade or slope, is sent to the control panel and directs the hydraulic valve to move the grade box up or down.
Building an Equestrian Arena is a major expense for the horse owner, contractors utilising laser grading for the construction will assure the owner that the architects design and construction specifications have been met. Such grading will provide a precise riding surface for the safety and comfort of the horse and rider. Each layer of the design, from the sub-base to finish grade will be completed to exact design levels.
One of the most important components in the design and construction of the Arena is the attention to detail. Un-level surfaces, soft spots etc, will place undue stress on horses’ tendons and leg muscles and cause unsafe footing for horses that could result in injury to the horse and the rider. Laser grading the site will eliminate low and high points and alleviate any finishing errors, achieving a great end result and expectations.
Annual laser grading the arena in the maintenance schedule will assure the owner the optimum levels are upheld, and the surface and arena will work as designed. Regular maintenance will minimise wear and tear on the surface and help maintain the integrity of the surface.
